CoEd Varsity Track vs. Tri-Meet (Summit and Citrus Valley)

Game Date
Feb 27, 2012

The track and field team stormed into the season amid a ghastly rain shower. Through some severely chilly weather the team still managed to get some great races in and see some really good times and marks for this early in the season. Both the boys and girls distance squads put in some extra work and had a couple of breakthrough performances. Ryan Rittenhouse blazed away a 2:10 mark in the 800 on the boys side while Karina Varela posted a 2:37 on the girls side. The boys 4x1 team of Jamie, Snowten, Deondre Owens, Finney, and Andre Gooden in the worst conditions possible got the stick around completely clean for their first time trying and even pulled out a frist place finish. Kamehameha Jackson impressed with a win in the 300 hurdles on the boys side and Nelly Stout went out on the girls side and re-established herself as one of the leagues best. Cynthia Rivera rocked a solid 2 mile, Ryan Hunter Simms hit a decent throw... the best in the area, in the shot and was joined by Malik Anderson and newcomer Jahari Payne in a solid day for the boy throwers. The jumpers got to jump into some pretty wet sand but new comer William Belvin had the mark of the day in the pits getting himself a 1st place. Kadejhia Holmes and Marliesha Pullin had great days over at the high jump pit taking 1st and 2nd. All in all the spartans battled some crazy weather but proved they are up to the challenges this season will throw at them. The spartans next hit the road to the Ontario Relays this Saturday at Don Lugo high School.
