The Spartans Boys' Varsity Soccer team won both pool play games on Dec 27 defeating Yucaipa 1-0 in the opener and then taking down Desert Hot Springs 3-1 in the afternoon to advance to the championship bracket of the San Gorgonio Boys' Soccer Shoot-Out Tournament.

On day two of the tournament, the Spartans knocked off CIF ranked Monrovia 1-0 setting up a semifinal matchup with Indio.  Unfortunately, the Spartans fell to the Rajahs 0-1 as a shot from 30+ yards sailed into the upper right corner of the net in the first half as a bewildered Spartan goalkeeper ducked with the sun in his direct line of vision.  The Spartans put forth a strong offensive effort in the second half as two quality opportunities just missed but were unable to come up with the equalizer.

The Spartans now face Oak Hills in the third place game of the tournament on December 28 at 11:00am at the SB Soccer Complex as the field of 24 teams has narrowed significantly on the final day.
