ELSINORE HIGH: 6
In the championship game of the 2012 Spartan Baseball Classic, San G defeated Elsinore 7-6. With the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Garrett Preszler hit a two out grand slam for the Spartans to take a 7-3 lead. But in the top of the seventh, Elsinore rallied the score to 7-6 off of back-to-back doubles with runners on and two outs. Coach Eatinger then turned to junior Belizario Gutierrez in relief of Zack Pender who had been on the hill since the start. Gutierrez came in with the tying runner on second and two outs. His first two pitches were curve ball strikes looking and then he came with high heat for a swinging third strike for the victory! In addition to the grand slam, Preszler went 2 for 3 at the plate and leadoff hitter Brandon Charles went 3 for 4.
