The Lady Spartans had a tough battle against the Bruins from Bloomington. The spartans came out of the gate scoring the first 12 points of the game and establishing a commanding lead. Denise Lewis and Katrina Anthony had big first quarters with 4 points each. The Spartans then lapsed a bit as the bruins climbed back into the game. Raeon Cooper scored the Spartans only 3 points of the second quarter and  the bruins held the spartans scoreless in the third. Thanks to tenacious rebounding, and a aggressive hustle defense the spartans stayed in the game through their shooting troubles. They started the 3rd quarter down 16-19, and let the bruins score a couple more baskets. A late scoring surge by Stout, Lewis and Anthony closed the gap and evened the score at 24 with a minuet left. A few huge rebounds by Denise Lewis and some amazing steals by Danielle Stout gave the Spartans an opportunity to put the game away. Katrina Anthony scored 4 go ahead points caping off her 10 point game and solidifying her a force on the court. Gabby Sandate, all though playing in foul trouble most of the game scored a basket to secure the spartans 30-24 win and move the spartans to 1-1 on the season. The Spartans face off against Riverside Poly in tournament play this Monday at Pacific High School, game time 4:30.
