Our Spartans avenged last year’s first round playoff loss last night running away from Tahquitz in the second half and now travel to CIF #5 seed Norte Vista on Friday, November 29 at 7:00pm.

This is our Spartans first time in the CIF Football Semis since the 1989 team made it all the way to the championship game!

Our CIF #1 ranked Spartans are putting on quite a show for our San G faithful.  We darted out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter only to see Tahquitz battle back to take the lead 17-15 with just over a minute left in the first half.  But never losing composure, QB Tahir Rashed-Mills found Nathan Meadors on a fourth down bomb in the end zone to jump back in front for good 22-17 with 9 seconds left in the second quarter.

After receiving the kick-off to start the second half, our Spartans struck on the first drive when Mills found Alvin Bibbs on a pass in the flat good for a 6 yard TD 6 minutes into the third quarter and a 29-17 San G lead.  The Spartan defense stepped up shutting out the Titans the entire second half.  Early in the fourth quarter Mills struck again putting together another one of his scrambling, highlight TD runs… this one for 74 yards, essentially breaking the Titans back as we extended our lead to 36-17 with 11:32 left in the game.  The final blow came after a strong series by Bibbs pounding the ball and eventually finding paydirt on a 3 yard TD run at 7:20 of the 4^th quarter… San G 43-17!

We will have pre-sale tickets available on Monday, November 25 from 9:30am to 2:00pm… you will need to catch Coach Maeda in the stadium at the girls’ soccer scrimmage vs Rubidoux or in the gym as the boys’ basketball team scrimmages REV… we are also putting together a student rooter bus and Coach Maeda will have the sign up sheet and permission slips.
