The Spartans of San G battled the Spartans of Jurupa Hills in the first game of our San G Winter Classic.  The first half was back and forth with neither team able to put the ball in the net.  At the end of the first half both teams remained scoreless.  Our San G Spartans came out ready to take control in the second half.  Senior Roxanna Gomez got the scoring started on a pass in the air from the left side by Sophmore Roxanne Villarreal.  Roxy settled the ball, beat the last defender and buried the ball in the back of the net putting us up 1-0.  With just under 10 mins remaining in regulation, The Jurupa Hills Spartans got on the board to tie up the game 1-1.  It looked like the game was going to be decided by penalty kicks as the score remained tied and time was running out.  But with under 2 minutes to play, Roxanne Villarreal (Fresh)  received the ball at the 50, passed it to the center to Roxy Gomez, who gave it back to Fresh who was too fast for the defender and put the ball in the corner of the net, winning the game for our San G Spartans!  The Defense was solid only giving up one goal. Angele Villa made 8 saves to help the Spartans to their first win in the tournament.
