Spartans' junior ace Hazahel Quijada opens the Florida tournament with a one hit, 10 strike out, shutout vs Oklahoma Santa Fe for a 1-0 victory. Quijada also only walked three batters while throwing over 60% strikes in the complete game.
The Spartans sole run came in the bottom of the fourth inning as Jess Atilano led off with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and then third base on a ground out by Quijada. With one out, senior catcher Rainier Aguilar gets the game winning RBI on a sacrifice fly.
The Santa Fe pitcher was dealing as well only allowing two singles to our Spartans... one each by Jess Atilano and Adan Alvarado. The win improves the Spartans' record to 5-1 and continues the 5 game winning streak coming off another Spartan Classic Tournament championship last Saturday.
